Le Corsaire is built around the meeting of oceanic ambergris, leather and oud.

Fresh ambergris and sea water give the composition its marine character, while leather and earthy notes introduce a rougher texture. Oud Assam anchors the base with a dark woody presence.

Inspiration

Le Corsaire draws inspiration from Jean Bart, the corsair of Dunkirk who became one of the great naval figures of Louis XIV’s reign.

In 1694, after a French grain convoy had been captured by the Dutch, Jean Bart pursued it at sea and brought it back to France. It was one of the exploits that made his name legendary in Dunkirk.

Le Corsaire imagines this world from the deck: cold sea air, salt against leather, wet wood beneath the feet and the uncertainty of open water.

The perfume carries something of Jean Bart’s character, courage shaped by discipline, and a life inseparable from the sea.
